Striving to do things 'Better'...
by Raven Taylor
When I received my first pair of Better Tights, bought on a whim after searching for something that might actually fit, the first thing that struck me was something very simple: the packaging. You wouldn’t think such a seemingly insignificant thing could spark such joy but the sheer simplicity of receiving a pair of tights without a single bit of plastic in the packaging was a most welcome change. Each pair was wrapped in brown paper and sealed with a little sticker detailing the size and style. And that was it. No cellophane windows, no plastic hanging tag, nothing. Everything could be tossed straight in the paper recycling bin, or even composted! I wish more companies would get on board with this kind of thing.
But I should I have known this would be the case. Better Tights is a company that is getting a lot of things right. One glance at the gorgeous models in all shapes, sizes and colours that adorn the home page of their website tells you that they are striving to do things differently in all areas. Striving to do things ‘better’ one might say.
The models are a good place to start. These are not your typical lingerie models that you would usually see on a site selling hosiery. These are real women, women like you and me, so when you shop on this site you aren’t made feel ashamed by your body, and this is a very important thing in this day and age of social media and influencers. Better clearly take their responsibility to promote body positivity and inclusivity very seriously. It’s incredibly refreshing to see a brand not pushing unrealistic beauty standards to promote their wares.
Digging deeper into the brand I found more reasons to love them. They have a factory right here in the UK and are a living wage employer. How often do you see companies setting up manufacturing plants in the UK? Sustainability and ethical production is something I feel really strongly about and the fact that these tights are manufactured in factories that don’t exploit workers in foreign countries is a huge draw for me.
With
its inclusive advertising, sustainable practices and stylish, long
lasting products, Better is definitely a brand I will continue to shop
with for a long time to come.
